Student Counselling

Everyone faces challenges from time to time - stress, anxiety, relationships, or feeling overwhelmed. If you’re a current NMIT student, you can access free, confidential student counselling on campus.

Our counselling students are here to listen, support, and walk alongside you.

We offer free, confidential sessions where you can talk about:

  • Coping with academic pressure
  • Mental wellbeing, anxiety or low mood
  • Relationships, flatting stress, or personal growth

You don't need a big reason to book - sometimes a kōrero helps clear your head.

Student counsellors

You'll meet with one of our senior counselling students who: 

  • Are trained in providing support and guidance
  • Offer a safe, non-judgemental space to talk
  • Are supervised by qualified professionals to ensure quality care

Visit one of our friendly Learner Success Assistants in the Library if you need help booking a session, or choose the option that works best for you below.

All sessions are free and confidential. The team can be found on the second floor of S Block (access off Nile Street).
