From Thursday 4 July, the Kōwhai Lounge (N Block) will no longer be available as a student space. We’re shifting our focus to developing a new student-focused hub in Te Puna Mātauranga, M Block, that bring you closer to key services, support, and other learners, and to maximise teaching spaces across campus in a way that makes sense.
Looking for a spot to study or meet friends? Head over to Te Puna Mātauranga (the library):
If you are currently using lockers in N Block - please empty these by Thursday 4 July.
Our awesome student association is shifting into a new home, Room L112, just across from the library's front doors. This move keeps them close to Learner Success and Academic Success services while offering a private and welcoming space to connect with their team. The team will let you know when they're moving, in Term 3.
Confidential meeting rooms will also be available nearby for chats with SANITI reps and advocates.
To create a new hub for learners to socialise, organise and relax between classes on the first floor, we’re relocating all library resources and academic support to the second floor:
This shift supports our goal of building a quiet, purposeful learning space upstairs and a relaxed, social space downstairs.
Work will occur over the first week of the July term break (30 June - 4 July). We aim to minimise disruptions, but you might notice some noise and movement, especially around the library.
Have any questions or need a quiet space during this time? Come to the Help Desk - we’re here to help you find the best spot to focus and study.
Thanks for your patience as we create better spaces for you. These updates are part of our ongoing commitment to putting learners at the centre of campus life.
