Confirm Your Place

If you've received a confirmation letter but haven't replied yet, be sure to accept your place.

• If you applied online, you can confirm your place via MyNMIT(external link)
• Otherwise, email your signed Secure Your Enrolment form to enrolments@nmit.ac.nz

Get your very own student card

To get your very own student card, head over to the Information and Enrolments office at the Nelson Campus, or the administration office at the Marlborough Campus. Our friendly staff will print your card on the spot!

It is common practice at NMIT to welcome manuhiri (visitors / guests), kaimahi (staff) and ākonga (students) in a formal and traditional welcoming ceremony. 

The intention of the mihi whakatau at NMIT is to welcome you and celebrate the beginning or continuation of your learning journey.

It is rich with symbolism and follows a special process ultimately uniting two separate groups: tangata whenua (hosts) and manuhiri (guests), together as one.

Whilst parts of a mihi whakatau may vary according to the occasion, Māori language remains a key feature.

We look forward to new ākonga joining us for our Semester 1 2025 Mihi Whakatau as below:

Nelson Campus: 10 am Monday 17th February 2025

• Students to arrive by 9:45 a.m. outside of D Block to be seated

Marlborough Campus: 11 am Thursday 20th February 2025

• Students to arrive by 10:30 a.m. in the A Block Front Carpark to be seated

Once you’re fully enrolled, you’ll receive an NMIT network login and instructions via email on how to activate your account(external link) within a day.

During the first few weeks of term, you'll have the chance to dive into the vibrant life at NMIT and explore your campus. It's a perfect time to make connections and familiarize yourself with all the resources available to support you throughout your journey here.

Your class will have an NMIT Campus Orientation Tour with the Learner Success Team, where you will meet support staff and find out key 'need-to-knows' to make the most of services on-campus and online. 

Your Programme Coordinator will introduce you to the tutors and fellow students in your programme area. Some coordinators organise crazy activities to help you learn about your campus.

Exactly what happens depends a little on which campus you're at.

Two weeks of student-led fun sounds pretty good, right? You bet.

Orientation comes with two weeks of student-led fun! From 12 pm to 1 pm, enjoy a variety of FREE food options like pancakes, sundaes, hotdogs, and the famous SANITI BBQs. Plus, dive into games, giveaways, and music – all for free!
