Te Puna Mātauranga, Whakatū |
The Library Learning Centre, Nelson campus (M Block)

Te Puna Mātauranga is our buzzing and welcoming onsite learning hub, at the centre of the Nelson Campus. It's a great place to start your day, study, research, and collaborate.

This innovative space brings together many of our learner services. You'll also find computer suites, our IT Helpdesk, the English Language Hub, and various study spaces, all within a fully networked environment.

Te Puna Mātauranga opening hours

  • In term time: we are open from Monday-Thursday, 8am-5pm
  • with a 4pm finish on Fridays and during holidays
  • This space is closed only on weekends and public holidays.

📘 Discover Nofo‘anga: To the left of the Learner Helpdesk, you'll find 'Nofo‘anga', your space for connection, collaboration and calm within Te Puna Mātauranga | the Nelson Library Learning Centre. Settle in to study, share ideas, or simply take a breather in this vibrant, student-centred hub.

📚 Your Library: Whether you’re researching, revising or recharging, the library(external link) is your place to belong and thrive at NMIT.

On the ground floor: you'll find our Learner Helpdesk and Learner Success teams, with their doors always open, ready for a chat, to answer your questions, or connect you with the right support for you, including help for international students, wellbeing resources, career advice, and much more.

Upstairs: is our Library Team(external link), and Academic Support kaimahi - who are available to help you with library services(external link), study tips, assignment support, learning resources, and more.

    *Swipe ID access card required outside of campus hours.
Café Ake Ake

For a refuel or relaxation, visit Café Ake Ake

Enjoy great coffee and a variety of affordable food options, including scones, salads, pies, sandwiches, drinks, and hot meals.

Ake Ake opening hours

  • Monday-Thursday: 7.30am-3pm
  • Friday: 7.30am-2pm
  • Closed: public and statutory holidays, and during semester breaks.
Sports Zone

Fancy shooting a few hoops, having a game of tennis or a kick-around in between classes?

Check out our multi-purpose astro turf sports court. Our outdoor AstroTurf sports court is available to use for games of soccer, tennis, netball or basketball.

Learners can borrow equipment from the SANITI student support team (find them on the ground floor of L Block) or feel free to use your own.

Parking

If you're parking at any NMIT campus, spaces are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Accessible parks: are available for Mobility Card holders. Temporary accessible car parking passes can be arranged, with a doctor's certificate.

Showers

Shower facilities are available for learners in several locations across campus, including: D Block, F Block, K Block, M Block, N Block, and T Block.

Please bring your own towel and products.
