Learner events and photography

This may include content captured during orientation activities, learner events, workshops, fun lunches, graduations, scholarship presentations, and other official NMIT on-campus or NMIT-led events.

Under NMIT’s Communications, Brand and Media Policy, separate media consent is not required for photography or video captured:

• on NMIT campuses
• during official NMIT events
• or at NMIT-owned and branded activities

NMIT staff and approved contractors will always aim to communicate respectfully when photography or filming is taking place. We understand some learners may not wish to appear in photos or videos, and we will make reasonable efforts to accommodate this wherever possible.

If you would prefer not to be photographed or filmed at an event, please speak with an NMIT staff member there, or if you need to contact the team post-event please email: learnersuccess@nmit.ac.nz

When a media consent form may be required

In some situations, NMIT may request a separate Learner Media Consent Form. This is more likely to apply where learners are:

• featured prominently in marketing campaigns
• participating in planned promotional photography or videography
• being interviewed or profiled
• contributing testimonials, artwork or creative work for promotional use
• involved in content intended for long-term or wider promotional distribution

Where consent is requested, participation is voluntary.
