Becoming a buddy is a rewarding way to support a new learner while building your own leadership, communication and intercultural skills.
Why be a Buddy Leader?
The NMIT Buddy Programme is a great way to gain valuable volunteer experience, opportunities to make new connections, and involvement in social activities. We know this will be an enriching commitment, perhaps 8 - 10 hours per semester.
As a Buddy leader, you will be expected to be welcoming, reliable and respectful by making early contact, checking in regularly, sharing helpful information, encouraging participation, and knowing when to refer learners to NMIT support services if needed.
In return, you may receive recognition for your involvement, including the chance to win a gift voucher each semester, a letter of recommendation, and experience that can help strengthen your CV.
