I was always curious about who I was and why I acted the way I did, and as I investigated and understood myself more, there grew an interest in what made others tick too.

This curiosity led me to train in holistic therapeutic models such as craniosacral therapy, meditation, yoga, and breathing practices, to better understand myself and support others in doing likewise.

“I have a grounded, calm presence that supports deep connection, safety, and effective co-regulation, and enables smoother processing of charged situations and movement towards where you want to be.”

Counselling approach

My counselling practice at NMIT utlises Person-Centred Counselling (PCC) as the foundation, putting you at the heart of the work and promoting agency.

Alongside this, I bring in solution-focused, narrative and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Māori models, tihei wā mauri ora, te wheke, Meihana, te whare tapa whā and te powhiri poutama frameworks, which enables me to work more specifically with your unique situation and needs.

“I see counselling as movement, from a place we're not happy with towards a place we are. It's so satisfying to see the client grow and come alive with each step towards where they want to be. ”

Personal and professional experience

Added to this is 25 years’ experience in the alternative health and well-being field, which I blend with these counselling techniques to bring a holistic approach to our work together.

Having experienced some major challenges in my life, I understand how crippling it can be to try to make sense of them and move forward.

"Having overcome all of these challenges and thrived, I know the benefit of having someone you can trust to walk alongside you as you find your way, and the growth that can come from moving through them".
